Why is this position crucial to BitMED?

Our lean team is ready to grow. We are rapidly onboarding 22M members to our platform, and that number is growing every day. We are looking for a VP of Marketing to join the senior leadership team and be a key contributor to our growth. This person will be our first marketing hire and oversee all marketing, communication, and public relations initiatives as we scale. This position is crucial to BitMED’s success; we’re going to market in the United States and Africa, at the same time, and that takes someone that can align our strategy and brand across all markets and channels.

This person will decide what systems we use, how we build out the team, and manage the annual marketing budget. This person will be critical to building and testing our messaging and strategy. BitMED needs a VP of Marketing who can think strategically and understand our vision but can also get their hands dirty in executing the day to day marketing tasks. Executing on tactical initiatives quickly—such as content creation, social media, product marketing—is necessary. This person will start as the sole marketing hire and shape the team.

The VP of Marketing wants to translate brand and market vision into differentiated and compelling product messaging for each audience and enable the outward facing teams to carry our story. Our VP of Marketing will be at the core of everything we do on the consumer-facing side of our business, so it will be an exciting and challenging role.

What will this person do on a day-to-day basis?

  • Work closely with product and management teams to understand our member’s needs and create go-to-market strategies, communication and collateral that reflects BitMED’s product values and goals

  • Create marketing strategies to advertise, grow, and promote our platform channels, ICO and wallet

  • Oversee sponsorships, conferences, events, meetups, online marketing, and budgets

  • Develop and execute marketing plans for BitMED’s brand, including brand assets, voice and positioning

  • Coordinate and organize marketing initiatives, including outbound campaigns and demand generation sales activities

  • Implement new marketing initiatives such as competitive analysis, research projects, account-based marketing, direct mail, etc.

  • Manage the localization implementation and translations across all channels and markets (bridging cross-cultural communication, translations, compliance and regulation, etc.)

  • Create a plan for marketing team growth and budgetary needs and expectations

  • Implement and maintain necessary marketing technology, including email tools, marketing automation, etc.

  • Manage marketing services department, including development and distribution of all marketing collateral

  • Track, analyze and report on all activities and results to senior leadership

What is this person expected to accomplish within their first 90 days?

  • Develop a cadence of press mentions through regular media outreach to tech, trade and business publications; begin developing relationships with publications to increase likelihood of mentions

  • Organize brand assets to grow our public profiles (both social and business, i.e. Crunchbase, AngelList, Telegram etc.)

  • Establish process and standards for development, launch, and maintenance for all brand positioning materials

  • Alignment of brand positioning as it relates to partners, products, proposals, sales tools, messaging, content, and look-and-feel of all internal and external communications and marketing materials

  • Coordinate and execute on marketing initiatives as they relate to sales—including case study interviews and creation, sales collateral, and deck coordination and upkeep

  • Define key messages to target audiences that’s able to be repurposed for ongoing communications and cadence

  • Identify conferences, speaking events, and award opportunities for BitMED, apply and reach out as necessary

  • Provide leadership in the development of joint ventures, affiliations and partnership arrangements

  • Provide leadership and support for the design, development and implementation of products

  • Oversee direct market research, competitor analyses and customer service and retention monitoring processes

  • Build, develop and manage marketing team capable of carrying out needed marketing and service strategies

What experience should this person have?

  • 10+ years of marketing experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a marketing leadership role

  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA preferred

  • A track record of building, leading, and retaining high-performance teams in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment

  • Experience in B2C marketing and large-scale user acquisition

  • PR experience required

  • Experience successfully executing digital marketing campaigns, including SEO, SEM, Google AdWords, etc.

  • Substantial experience in senior marketing leadership role; has overseen yearly marketing calendar and budget
